Mississippi Licensure Course

AIM Institute for Learning & Research is partnering with the Mississippi Department of Education to provide a training opportunity for provisionally-licensed teachers as a path to full licensure. The Mississippi Pathways to Proficient Reading Licensure course (PPR Licensure) is designed specifically for Mississippi provisionally licensed elementary education teachers who have not yet passed the state's Foundations of Reading exam.
- This course serves as an approved state pathway for these teachers to demonstrate subject-matter competency.
- The hybrid training consists of 45-hours of learning including two, required full-day, in-person sessions.
- Teachers must pass the course with an 80% score to move toward a full teaching license.
Please note, this course is ONLY for Provisionally Licensed Teachers in Mississippi. The course cost must be paid at time of registration.
Eligible participants MUST:
- Hold a valid three-year Entry-Level Non-Renewable License in Elementary Education issued by the Mississippi Department of Education.
- Have attempted the Foundations of Reading assessment as one criterion for initial licensure in Elementary Education.
-
Have NOT completed an MDE-funded Pathways to Proficient Reading course within the past five (5) years to enroll in the state-funded course option. Individuals who completed the MDE-funded course during that period may still enroll; however, the course cost must be paid by the individual or through a district purchase order.
Successful completion of the course, resulting in full teaching licensure, requires a passing score of 80% or higher and attendance at both in-person training sessions.
