K-1 Early Literacy Impact Report

Submit Your K-1 Screening Data and Receive Free Course Access

AIM is partnering with districts across the country to develop a new State of Early Literacy Report, an analysis of Kindergarten and Grade 1 reading performance designed to identify trends, barriers, and effective practices that support early reading success. We are also asking our Early Reading Success School district partners to support this report by sharing screening data from K/1 classrooms in schools that are not part of the ERSS initiative.

As part of this effort, AIM is gathering de-identified K-1 universal screening data from School Year 2024 - 2025 fall, winter, and spring assessment windows. AIM’s team will evaluate this data to generate clear, actionable insights for educators and policymakers.

All data shared through this initiative will be fully de-identified and handled in accordance with applicable student privacy laws. Districts interested in participating may review the Data Sharing Agreement and complete the Participation Form below to start the process.

What we need from you:

Schools are invited to share de-identified, nationally normed universal screening data with Category of Risk (see criteria below) for Kindergarten and Grade 1 from the 2024–2025 school year.

Important details:

  • All data submitted must be fully de-identified and comply with federal and state student privacy laws (no personally identifiable information).
  • Submissions may include nationally normed screening results and key instructional context information (e.g., curriculum used, assessment system, core literacy block time).
  • Data will be securely uploaded through a FERPA-compliant system after completion of a Data Sharing Agreement.

Incentives for participation:

In appreciation for your contribution to this national effort, participating schools will receive complimentary access to AIM’s online Early Reading Success Schools course for up to 10 K–1 teachers. This 20-hour professional learning experience strengthens foundational skills instruction with a focus on research-to-practice translation and data-driven decision-making — supporting educators as they apply screening insights to improve classroom outcomes.
