Pathways to Proficient Reading: Secondary

The First Step to Adolescent Literacy Proficiency

AIM's newest course adapts Pathways to Proficient Reading, our IDA-accredited comprehensive literacy learning course, to add new articles, classroom resources, adolescent student profiles, and secondary classroom videos, to address the unique literacy needs of adolescent learners.

Virtual Community of Practice sessions with expert AIM facilitators focus on hands-on practice to support classroom implementation so secondary teachers are knowledgeable in their implementation of evidence-based practices in middle and high school classrooms.

Who Should Enroll in Pathways to Proficient Reading: Secondary?

All middle and high school educators, English Language Arts and content areas alike, should register for this 55-hour learning opportunity that develops depth of knowledge around literacy development and proficiency across content areas. This course is a critical first step for secondary educators seeking to implement evidence-based literacy instruction in the classroom and accelerate literacy acquisition among struggling learners.

Student Confidence

“Pathways to Proficient Reading: Secondary has helped me be more intentional in incorporating phonemic awareness, decoding strategies, and vocabulary development into my lessons. My students are showing greater confidence in breaking down complex texts and building meaning. I have been empowered to support all learners more effectively through explicit, evidence-based practices that foster stronger comprehension and long-term literacy success.”

— Educator, Georgia
