Client Engagement Sales Specialist

Client Engagement Sales Specialist  

Position Overview:

AIM Institute for Learning & Research is seeking a Client Engagement Sales Specialist with a passion for education and the Science of Reading. The Client Engagement Sales Specialist will join a dynamic team as a key contributor to driving revenue growth by identifying, engaging, and securing new business opportunities for AIM Pathways products and services. This role focuses on building strong relationships with educational institutions, state departments, districts, schools and partnership organizations to expand AIM’s market presence.

The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of experience in education sales and a strong understanding of the K-12 education landscape, funding sources, and trends. They will demonstrate expertise in consultative sales, business development, and pipeline management, with the ability to identify and guide prospective clients from the discovery through the sales cycle.

Key Responsibilities:

Sales & Business Development (70%)

  • Identify and engage high impact potential clients, including schools, districts, and education organizations, to drive revenue growth.

  • Conduct calls and sales presentations to introduce AIM Pathways products and services.
  • Pipeline management and reporting, ensuring high conversion rates.
  • Possess knowledge of the buying and selling process and funding sources in education, including state and local funding formulas.
  • Develop customized proposals, price quotes, and contracts to meet client needs.
  • Monitor competitor activity and market trends to identify new opportunities for literacy professional development.
  • Collaborate with marketing to generate leads and develop outreach strategies, including digital and social media outreach campaigns with specific targets.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key decision-makers in the education sector.
  • Ability to create strategic territory planning, using the current product roadmap and leveraging subject matter experts strategically to support the buyer’s journey.
  • Conduct onsite discovery at conferences, training, and client visits.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to clients by understanding their needs and recommending appropriate solutions based on their needs, research, and data.
  • Maintain detailed records of all client interactions and sales activities in Salesforce.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure seamless onboarding and long-term client satisfaction.
  • Ability to ask questions and develop rapport with prospective clients to evaluate fit and prioritize next steps.
  • Manage and prioritize workflow based on KPIs and Institute goals.
  • Knowledge of and hands-on execution of RFP, RFI, RFQ process.

Strategic Planning & Reporting (30%)

  • Develop and implement strategies to optimize the sales process and improve efficiency.Analyze sales data and provide regular reports on pipeline progress and account reviews.

  • Contribute insights to refine product positioning and go-to-market strategies.
  • Convert lead reports to sales qualified leads through discovery.
  • Use data from pipeline activity to drive activities in the sales process.

Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of sales experience in the education sector, preferably selling instructional products, curriculum, or SaaS-based educational solutions.
  • Proven track record of exceeding sales targets and driving business growth.

  • Strong knowledge of the K-12 education landscape, including district purchasing processes and funding structures. Structured Literacy knowledge, preferred.
  • Excellent consultative sales and negotiation skills, with the ability to communicate value effectively.
  • Existing network of influential decision makers and educational leaders in literacy.
  • Experience using Salesforce or other CRM platforms to manage sales pipelines.
  • Self-motivated, results-driven, and able to thrive in a fast-paced, target-oriented environment.
  • Ability to solve problems that arise with clients and ascertain when to escalate them based on the severity or complexity of the situation.
  • Ability to travel up to 40% for client meetings, conferences, and networking events.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with state departments of education, school districts, and partnership organizations.
  • Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills to identify growth opportunities.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with marketing, product, and customer success teams.
  • Passion for improving education outcomes and knowledge of evidence-based literacy practices.
  • Understanding of evidence-based practices, Structured Literacy, and the Science of Reading or the desire to gain knowledge and product expertise in this area.
  • Self-starter who is innovative and adept at executing with minimal direction and supervision.
  • Collaborator who is team oriented and willing to help as needed on the Growth and Impact team.
