practices to educators by providing access to the latest research-based curriculum, technology,
and training.

disabilities such as dyslexia, dysgraphia, and dyscalculia, utilizing research-based intervention
strategies and an arts-based learning environment that is college preparatory in scope and
sequence.

Purpose
The Structured Literacy and Practicum Facilitator Consultant is a contract-based, 1099 position.
This position advances AIM Institute for Learning and Research’s mission to ensure all students
and teachers have access to evidence-based literacy instruction through leading work nationwide to help increase awareness of why reading matters for student success. The Structured Literacy and Practicum Facilitator supports a cohort by successfully completing Pathways to Structured Literacy and Practicum (typically from September through June). This position provides an exciting opportunity for someone who thrives in delivering professional development aligned to the science of reading, brings expertise and enthusiasm in evidence-based instruction, and wants to contribute to the success of a growing organization. The Structured Literacy and Practicum Facilitator will work closely with our partners in the field,
such as states, districts, and nonprofits. They will provide professional development and use their literacy expertise to develop presentations, create resources, and lead professional learning
around AIM Pathways, the science of reading, and evidence-based instruction. This position will
allow highly motivated people to apply their expertise to impact the course of education across
the nation positively. A growth mindset is essential.

Responsibilities include the following:

Planning
● Develop and maintain relationships with AIM Institute clients.
● Prepare to deliver virtual communities of practice.
● Participate in AIM’s facilitator training program with successful completion.
● Track and manage cohort progress in Absorb, including attendance.

Training and Coaching
● Deliver virtual training and coaching to cohorts of client educators and school
administrators in evidence-based literacy instruction using the AIM Pathways digital
platform and other technology tools.
● Mentor participants in the Orton-Gillingham methodology through the AIM Pathways
Structured Literacy course and practicum.
● Facilitate virtual community of practice sessions for participants to help them deepen
their knowledge of evidence-based literacy teaching and learning through real-time
scenarios, problem-solving, coaching, and discussions.
● Maintaining accurate records of all training and coaching interactions.

Communication (10%)
● Will be responsible for the timely communication of all training/coaching notes to AIM
Institute Leadership and client.
● Will promptly inform on any outstanding issues in the field and actively collaborate to
resolve or improve.

**Occasional in-person training may be required (10%)

Qualifications
● Demonstrable passion for the AIM Institute for Research and Learning’s mission, vision,
core values, and commitment to Diversity, Belonging, Inclusion, and Equity.
● Holds current Structured Literacy Dyslexia Specialist or Interventionist Certification
from the Center for Effective Reading Instruction or equivalent (e.g., IMSLEC, CALT).
● Completed a Structured Literacy-based practicum.
● Master’s or doctorate in education preferred and a minimum of five years of professional
experience in the science of reading as a teacher, coach, or administrator.
● Ability to work independently and effectively in a virtual, remote environment and build
strong relationships with colleagues and partners across geographies and time zones.
● Willingness to work alongside a dynamic, highly collaborative, and mission-driven team.
● Experience leading professional development on reading standards and/or evidence-based
literacy instruction.

● An ability to successfully navigate ambiguity, maintain flexibility, work independently,
and collaborate with colleagues and other stakeholders in a virtual work environment.
● Exceptional written communication, verbal communication, and interpersonal skills.
● Fluent in online platforms (Google Suite and Zoom required; LMS systems, preferred).

Contract Salary
The contract payment for this opportunity is $20,000 per cohort of up to 50 participants.
*Multiple cohorts are available if desired.
