The AIM Institute for Learning & Research is pleased to support a new $6.85 million philanthropic partnership with the Maryland State Department of Education and the Ibis Group to provide literacy instruction to 6,000 school leaders and secondary educators with AIM Pathways instruction. As part of this partnership AIM will provide Pathways to Literacy Leadership instruction to 4,000 school leaders and district literacy supervisors and provide 2,000 secondary educators with Pathways to Proficient Reading: Secondary training.

Demystifying Dyslexia
Registration Open! Enroll at anytime to complete the course at your own pace.
This fully online, asynchronous course offers in-depth learning about dyslexia, a common learning disability that affects 5-20% of the population. The curated content, includes a simulated dyslexia experience and printable classroom tools, explains the origin of dyslexia, the key characteristics of the disability, and the necessary elements to support these individuals through interactive and multi-media learning experiences.
This is a perfect introductory learning opportunity for any Maryland educator.
Once enrolled, your license is active for 1 year.

English Learners (EL)

Develop the specialized knowledge required to accelerate language and literacy proficiency for English Learners (EL) in any program model with immediate instructional applications with AIM's newest course created in collaboration with literacy researcher Dr. Elsa Cárdenas-Hagan.
Each module is paired with a 1-hour synchronous Virtual Community of Practice (VCoP) session with an expert AIM facilitator.
The modules include:
- Introduction to English Learners: Language & Literacy Development (2 Hours, 1 hour VCOP)
- Word Recognition Among English Learners (4 hours, 1 hour VCOP)
- Language Comprehension Among English Learners (4 hours, 1 hour VCOP)
Please note: Comprehensive structured literacy training (such as Pathways to Proficient Reading) is strongly recommended before enrolling in this specialized learning opportunity.

Pathways to Literacy Leadership (PLL) for Educational Leaders

The Pathways to Literacy Leadership (PLL) course equips educational leaders with the essential tools and strategies to develop, refine, and implement a comprehensive literacy plan tailored to their schools' needs.
This course prepares participants aiming to establish a clear organizational vision for effective literacy instruction to drive change by implementing systems-based approaches that empower teachers to apply evidence-based practices in their classrooms.

- Enhanced Leadership Skills: Gain the ability to effectively lead literacy initiatives and drive positive change within your district.

Commitment includes:
- Completion of asynchronous pre-knowledge inventory
- Completion of 10 asynchronous learning sections
- Attendance and Participation at two, daylong in-person training sessions where you will work on a Literacy Plan for your organization.
- Completion of pre and post-knowledge inventories
- 12-Month Access to the AIM Pathways Platform so materials can be reviewed, applied and accessed in the classroom when needed.

Pathways to Proficient Reading: Secondary (PPR-S)

AIM's Pathways to Proficient Reading: Secondary (PPR-S) course provides educators with comprehensive, IDA-accredited literacy training including articles, classroom resources, adolescent student profiles, and secondary classroom videos, to address the unique literacy needs of adolescent learners. Virtual Community of Practice sessions with expert AIM facilitators focus on hands-on practice to support classroom implementation so secondary teachers are knowledgeable in their implementation of evidence-based practices in middle and high school classrooms. All middle and high school educators, English Language Arts and content areas alike, should register for this learning opportunity that develops depth of knowledge around literacy development and proficiency across content areas.

- 5th-12th grade Maryland educators

The AIM Institute for Learning & Research is excited to announce that AIM Pathways training to support leaders and literacy supervisors in Maryland is part of a newly announced $6.85 million philanthropic partnership with the Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) and Ibis Group.
The partnership is detailed in the MSDE’s news release announcing the grant, which will support high-quality professional learning grounded in the Science of Reading to educators and leaders throughout the state.
An estimated $5.35 million of this four-year grant will support professional development for Maryland’s teachers and leaders including up to 6,000 school administrators, district literacy supervisors, and secondary educators through AIM Pathways training in Pathways to Literacy Leadership and Pathways to Proficient Reading: Secondary. The grant also includes teacher training provided by the State University of New York, New Paltz, through its Science of Reading Fundamentals Microcredential Program.
