Whether you are an elementary educator or an administrator, we offer state-approved training designed to deepen your understanding of the Science of Reading and literacy leadership.

Who is Required to Complete Training for Renewal?
Educators in the following roles are required to complete state-approved training for license renewal in Kansas:
- Elementary school educators in language arts, history, government, and social studies
- Elementary special education teachers
- Elementary school psychologists
- Elementary school administrators
- Elementary reading specialists
Which AIM Pathways Course is Right for You?
- Pathways to Proficient Reading: Available for all educators to fulfill license renewal requirements.
- Pathways to Proficient Reading: Secondary: An option for districts who want a training made for Secondary teachers.
- Pathways to Literacy Leadership: Available to fulfill license renewal requirements for administrators only.
AIM Institute provides the following state-approved courses to fulfill KSDE license renewal requirements:
Pathways to Proficient Reading
Available for all Kansas educators to fulfill license renewal requirements.
- Engaged Learning: Asynchronous orientation and a pre-course knowledge assessment to set the stage, followed by a 17-section course designed for mastering the Science of Reading.
- Interactive Support: Six live Virtual Community of Practice (VCoP) sessions with expert literacy facilitators to reinforce key concepts and build community.
- Structured Flexibility: A pacing guide to help you navigate the coursework, with ongoing access to the AIM Pathways platform for 12 months, so you can review and apply materials as needed.
- Credits: Earn 55 hours of CEUs and be prepared for the Knowledge and Practice Examination for Effective Reading Instruction (KPEERI) to receive your Structured Literacy Classroom Teacher certification.
- Standards-Aligned: The course is IDA-accredited and aligns with the Knowledge and Practice Standards for Teachers of Reading.
- Graduate Credit Option: Arcadia University offers 3 graduate credits (with an additional fee) upon successful completion.
Pathways to Literacy Leadership
Available to fulfill license renewal requirements for Kansas administrators only.
- Flexible Learning: Asynchronous orientation with a pre-course knowledge assessment and a 10-section course designed to guide your journey.
- Live Support: Four live Virtual Community of Practice (VCoP) sessions with an expert AIM facilitator to deepen your understanding and connect with peers.
- Your Pace: A pacing guide to help you stay on track, with approximately 30 hours of total coursework.
- Ongoing Access: 12 months of access to the AIM Pathways platform, so you can revisit and apply materials as needed.
- Standards-Aligned: Course content is IDA-accredited and aligned with the Knowledge and Practice Standards for Teachers of Reading.
- Credits: Earn 30 hours of CEUs.
- Graduate Credit Option: Arcadia University offers 3 graduate credits (with an additional fee) upon successful completion.

Though the Kansas State Department of Education currently requires state-approved training for elementary-level educators, AIM Institute also offers Pathways to Proficient Reading: Secondary. This course is ideal for middle and high school teachers interested in the Science of Reading, providing essential training focused on the unique needs of adolescent students.
This training can be purchased by individuals or districts looking to stay ahead of the curve in literacy education for secondary students.
